We have the honor of being invited by the Africa Commission of UNIMA to hold a six-week “masterclass” on string puppetry at Kiyi M’Bock, in the heart of Abidjan in the Ivory Coast.

For Werewere Liking, the founder of this village-school, the intensive string puppetry workshop will mark the beginning of a whole training project for young African artists in puppet expressivity: string puppets followed by full-bodied talking puppets (in the “Muppet” tradition), then shadow theatre… It is a project that could evolve into an international coproduction.

It is to be hoped that Africa will soon be more visible in international puppetry festivals.
